I wish I had found this resource at the start of the year! I would advise teachers to go for it. Create from the start a sturdy and organised system for storing resources, so that they can be used for many years. Create folders with a pocket for each word set and the corresponding resources. Create an assessment folder with all assessment sheets and corresponding resources printed in advance. Start the year with all the students on the same lists each week and then as the students begin to progress at different rates, and differentiation becomes important put students into small groups. This way, it becomes a great warm up for differentiated reading groups.

Wonder Words has been amazing, because the words are in small chunks. This means the kids can experience success and this then catapults them on to wanting to achieve more! I use these to balance my reading program - we have introduced decodable readers this year and these words help to balance my program. I also love the worksheets as this gives the children opportunity to learn to spell the word and not just read it. Spelling is a priority for our school as our results are not very good, in general.
